The Texas State Veterans Home in Floresville is named after Major Frank M. Tejeda, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.

Frank M. Tejeda

Tejeda served from 1963 to 1967 during the Vietnam War. Through his actions in combat he was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Tejeda served as a State Representative in the Texas House of Representatives from 1977 to 1987 and then in the Texas Senate from 1987 until 1993.

In 1992, Tejeda was elected to the United States House of Representatives and served in Congress from 1993 to 1997. During his time in the 103rd Congress, Congressman Tejeda fought for the rights of Veterans by successfully passing legislation to expand educational benefits and health care access for Veterans.

The Frank M. Tejeda Texas State Veterans Home opened in 2000 and has 160 beds, of which 32 are designated to memory care.
